There is a difference between an individual life style choice and a totalitarian collective choice, that must instead be diverse, democratic, progressive to achieve individual and collective interests.
University administrations must be efficient, impersonal and democratic reflecting the power of financing agents and social/legal minimum standards of Human Universal Rights. Subjective methods of selection and grading create opportunity for dogmatic/conservative indoctrination not in the interest of individual or society.
Common subjective selection/grading methods such as interviews, letters of recommendation, doctrine biased tests, student thesis mandatory orientation, doctrine biased evaluators or any creative variation are damaging to individual/society and must be replaced by objective/transparent methods for selection/grading.
Students must be coordinated to self-learn, introduced to past/current/future basic/advanced methods, schools of thought, theories, technology paradigms, technology systems, develop/participate in individual/collective projects to develop knowledge, initiatve and creative capacity, basis to modern active progressive science.

Universities/education are obligated by common sense, statute, law, constitution, international statutes/accords to be democratic, progressive, scientific in the interest of pre- adult or adult citizens and society, allowing pre-adults to choose/create/initiate before or once they are adults.
Interviews, letters of recommendation, mandatory orientation/mentorship for student but voluntary for professor and other subjective methods of selection, allow authority/peer pressure to reinforce dogmatism and conservatism, reducing progress, choice, creativity, opportunity and freedom.
Administration principles of efficiency, impersonality, democracy demand 24/7 shifts for full use of infrastructure and reduction of fixed costs per unit of service/product. Public Universities funded by students and/or tax payers mandate administration vote/participation to students, alumni and citizens.
Dogmatism, corporativism, conservatism, inefficiency, personalism in educational institutions lead to Students/Professors less prepared for creativity, invention, innovation, democracy, science, from knowledge of past/present/future methods of knowledge, schools of thought, theories and technology paradigms/systems.
Professions with institutional/status quo attraction as economists, administrators, lawyers, medics and engineers, attract more individuals with lesser interest in science and more on profit/income motive, leading to stagnation/blockage of science/technology development and innovation of products/services.
Accredited/league/traditional universities with majority perceived social-economic status quo value are economic abuse price gouging trusts/cartels of inelastic essential education service, demanding competition, price control and/or damage restitution for class action representing students, parents and citizens.
Dogmatic neoclassic passive science is usually around 70% theoretical, 25% empirical , 5% practical with limited radical creativity and must be around 25% creative, 25% practical, 25% empirical and 25% theoretical to achieve active scientific progress in the interest of individuals and colletive society.

Education should reinforce cultural safe knowledge and evolve gradually. Dogmatism and conservatism reflect the will of majority and/or authority of leading experts or interests. Freedom of expression include freedom not to change or to change gradually. Radical change may disrupt the social fabric and individual psychology.
Counter-Defense: there is a fine line, often broken, between culture/safety and conservatism/dogmatism, leading to self-interest protection at expense of interest of society. Dogmatism and conservatism are individual choices as long as they do not obstruct individual progress choices and society differences/progress.
